I have been so excited to blog this wedding and I feel like it has taken me forever! Courtney and Mike are some of my most favorite people, and they come from an *incredible* family. I met Courtney’s sister Nicole several years ago when I shot her wedding, and I knew right then that I loved literally all of their family and friends. They truly have a way of making you feel right at home, and taking you in as one of their own. Courtney and Mike have also done some modeling for me in the past so you may recognize them. They humored all my odd requests which included letting kittens climb all over them and sitting on elaborate couches in the middle of the NJ pine barrens for actual hours, while dressed in ballgowns, tuxes, and halloween make-up. I never dreamed that my most favorite part of having this business would be the people that I get to meet, but it is true over and over again.
Courtney and Mike’s wedding was actual perfection. Amazing weather, a stunning color palette, tons of portrait time, and a *lit* dance floor were just some of the highlights. I loved getting to really use all the wonderful locations that Perona Farms has to offer, and really getting to explore the grounds!
I’m going to let Courtney tell you their story in her own words:
How did you meet?
We met in college. We met through friends and became best friends through the semester and by the end of the semester Mike was showing up at my house with flowers asking me to be his girlfriend.
What was the proposal like?
Mike decided to propose to me on a cold Sunday in January in Belmar. We always go to belmar to go for walks on off season and the beach in the Summer. We were supposed to be meeting friends for lunch (so I thought). Turns out Mike had other plans. When we arrived in Belmar, Mike suggested that we go for a walk on the boardwalk while we waited for our friends. Before I knew it, Mike was on one knee asking me to marry him. Our friend, Jeff and Mike’s brother Danny were there taking pictures and recording it from a distance. I was totally surprised!
What is your favorite thing to do together?
We love spending time together, we truly are best friends.
Some things we enjoy doing together: 1. Going for walks 2. Hanging on the beach 3. Spending days on our boat 4. Trying new wineries all over the state 5. Cooking together and trying new recipes 6. Watching HGTV home remolding shows 7. Enjoying dinner and drinks outside on our patio.
