Foggy Winter Wedding at The View on the Hudson

April 3, 2025

Maeve and Mike where do I even start?! I adore you both!

We started our day in New York State, with a little rain on the forecast. I was already mapping some contingency plans in my head around the potential precipitation, but was hoping for the best. The morning was so smooth with the sweetest families making my job entirely too easy.

When we made it to the venue after a beautiful church ceremony – the rain had started and there was a heavy layer of fog hanging over the Hudson River. The visibility was so low, that it looked like we were all standing in clouds. Maeve and Mike embraced the weather we had, and we took photos in the fog, and eventually the rain with the entire bridal party. The bridal party was so enthusiastic and excited even out in somewhat heavy rain – it just made it that much more memorable. The umbrella photos we got are some of my favorites I have ever taken out in the rain – and they never would have been possible without a couple and bridal party that was so in the moment and (quite literally) down for anything.

I loved the energy at the candlelight filled reception, and it complemented the reception space at The View on the Hudson so beautifully!

How did you meet?

“We met on Hinge in January 2021 and instantly hit it off. I liked Mike first, and Mike had actually been logging into the app to delete it when he saw me pop up and decided to start a conversation. We had our first date at a local craft beer place called Greats of Craft a week later and the rest is history.”

What was the proposal like?

“We got engaged on January 20, 2024. Mike told me he had planned a day out for my upcoming birthday, so I got dressed up thinking the plan was to go out for drinks before dinner. It was what felt like one of the coldest days of winter yet, but Mike suggested we take a walk to an overlook of the East River and Queensboro bridge right at the end of our block. He knelt down and it was so cold that he could barely get the words out, but he asked and I said yes. He surprised me with both of our families waiting for us at a nearby bar to celebrate.”

What is your favorite thing to do together?

“We love going to sporting events and concerts together. We are both big sports fans (Yankees, Jets for Mike and Giants, Knicks, Rangers for me). Whether it be watching at home together on the couch, out at a bar with friends, or going to the game, it’s one our favorite things to do. We once went to 7 sporting events together in a one week span. Some of our favorite concerts together have been Billy Joel and Kygo.”
