Wedding at Rat’s Restaurant and Grounds for Sculpture | Hamilton, New Jersey Photographer

November 14, 2017

I’m not even sure where to begin with this blog, because Mags and Nick had that epic of a wedding. Aside from amassing the most amazing wedding party in the history of the universe, they went all out with literally every aspect of their day. I’ve had the pleasure of doing photos for their family and friends, so when Ray and I showed up to get started on their photos, we already felt like family. The entire day was filled with so much love and awesomeness, that I’m just not going to be able to do it justice here.
The church that Mags and Nick selected for their ceremony was absolutely amazing. We started doing photos outside on the steps because it was absolutely gorgeous, and Mags and her girls even had an entire biker parade (not sure if it was really a parade, but it certainly felt like one) salute and honk for them. Some time while we were all having fun doing their portraits outside, the church doors closed. I was so distracted by the fact that Mags had her dog sitter bring her adorable pupper Mickey to the church for some photos, that I wasn’t even thinking that the church doors might be locked.
Just as we finished up portraits and were basically all high-fiving each other for such an epic session, we realized that the church doors had been locked, leaving most of our camera gear, Mag’s phone, and probably like 7 other important things trapped inside. Fifteen scary minutes (and about 100 fruitless phonecalls) later, Mags had the stroke of brilliance to just turn one of the giant locks on the outside of the door, and basically let us back in. You would think that most brides would be freaking out, but not Mags. She was planning how we were going to get on each others shoulders so we could hoist someone into one of the (super high) windows.
We finished up the day with portraits at the Grounds for Sculpture, and then dove into their amazing reception at Rat’s Restaurant. Grounds for Sculpture is basically a photographer’s dream on a wedding day, and we probably could have gotten lost in there for a whole day.
Either way, I cannot thank Magda and Nick enough for being amazing people, and for having the most fun wedding ever. LOVE YOU GUYS!
